Grupo de música anglo-sueco que toca el genero Indie Rock formado en torno a Johnny Borrell, claro líder de la banda. La banda se formó en el verano del 2002, pero no fue hasta el 2003 cuando firmaron su primer contrato discográfico, ficharon por Mercury Records.

The Killers [Discografia]

Banda de rock indie, originaria de Las Vegas, Estados Unidos. Fue formada en 2002 después de que Brandon Flowers (vocalista de la banda) viera un recital de Oasis en el hotel Hard Rock, en abril de ese año.

En el 2004 debutan internacionalmente con su álbum de estudio Hot Fuss, en octubre de 2006 lanzaron su segundo álbum de estudio, Sam's Town y en noviembre de 2007 lanzaron su primer compilación, Sawdust el cual incluía lados B, covers y canciones no tomadas de los álbumes pasados.
El nombre de la banda se origina en el nombre de una banda de ficción que aparece en el video de "Crystal", tema de New Order.

Una de mis bandas preferidas, y por las que empecé a escuchar indie. Cuando escuché el famoso single "Mr. Brightside" pensé que era lo mejor que había escuchado en el mundo, y ahora que he escuchado sus demás albumes, mi opinión no ha cambiado.

The Lurios - A Way Out From Boredom

The Lurios, es una banda indie originaria de Inglaterra, compuesta por 2 pares de Hermanos.

Esta viene siendo la carta de presentación de la banda, que ya han ganado respeto de la industria musical en estos días. Esta banda ha sido firmada por un sello japonés (WTF!!). Al oirlos te recuerdan al estilo de lo que viene siendo The Fratellis, Pigeons Detectives o Dirty Pretty Things. Un sonido indie muy bueno y ellos si entran en el termino indie debido a que aun son un tanto desconocidos.

Ok Go - "Oh No" (2005)

Banda indie pop/rock originaria de Chicago, formada en 1998 (aunque sus integrantes han ido cambiando regularmente). Se hicieron aun mas famosos por su video y single de "here it goes again", donde se muestran corriendo sobre bandas sin fin haciendo una serie de "piruetas", un video bastante sencillo pero buenismo. Ademas que la letra y el ritmo son pegajosos.

Este es un buen disco si te queres levantar el animo, es buenisimo, todas las canciones son bien "felices" XD

Arcade Fire [Discografia]

Arcade Fire es un numeroso grupo (8 integrantes) nacido en Montreal, Canadá. Su estilo es calificado como art-rock e indie rock. Se caracterizan por su sonido, ya que sus instrumentos incluyen violines, violas, violonchelos, pianos, mandolinas, ukeleles, acordeones, xilófonos... en fín, una gran cantidad; no son las típicas guitarras de una banda de rock regular. Tambíen se caracterizan por sus complejas letras.
Personalmente, solo he escuchado el segundo album, y me parece muy bueno, en especial el track "keep the car running" por lo que dice.

The Decemberists - "The crane wife" (2006)

The Decemberists son una banda estadounidense formada en el 2001, priginarios de Portland, Oregon que se mueven dentro del género indie pop. Su nombre deriva de la "Rebelión Decembrista" de 1825 en Rusia, y la temática de sus canciones normalmente trata de historias y personajes ficticios, normalmente mezclado a hechos históricos y siempre manteniendo una línea narrativa con cada una de sus canciones.

Personalmente me parece uno de los albumes mejor trabajados que he escichado en mi vida, el sonido es impecable, las letras dan ganas de leerlas porque tienen contenido y la voz de Colin Meloy es de lo mas agradable. Me gustan todos los tracks, pero entre mis favoritas del album: "The island...", "The perfect crime", "Shankill butchers" y "Summersong" (es perfecta!)

Glastonbury 2008

Parece que las fechas y artistas que saldrán este año en el festival Glastonbury ya estan anunciados. El evento se llevará a cabo desde el viernes 27 a domingo 29 de Junio del presente año. La pagina oficial, dice que estas fechas pueden estar sujetas a cambios.

Habrá todo tipo de géneros musicales: indie, alternativo, hip hop, salsa, blues, folk, electronica, jazz... de todo para cada gusto.

Dado que son 22 escenarios, no expondremos que artista/banda se presentará en cada uno de ellos, pero podemos decir que la lista incluye los siguientes:

The Rakes [Discografia]

The Rakes, banda londinense formada en el 2004, incluidos dentro del género
post-punk/art-rock scene, comparados con bandas como Bloc Party, Maximo Park y The Futureheads. Se dice que ellos originaron el movimiento londinense whitechapel-punk, junto con The Others y The Libertines. (que desorden de géneros, no?).
También son famosos por su particular sentido de la moda; dado que la mayoria de artistas indie no son seguidores de famosos diseñadores, a los integrantes de esta banad es algo que les encanta.
Personalmente, el primer album no es de mis favoritos, aunque tiene canciones realmente buenas; pero si hablamos de el segundo, puedo decir que es uno de los pocos albumes en que todos los tracks son verdaderamente excelentes!. Entre mis favoritas: "the world was a mess...", "we danced together" y "when Tom Cruise cries" (nah, el nombre no tiene nada que ver con ese señor). Así que aqui les dejo la discografia de una graaan banda, de mis preferidas.

Albert Hammond Jr. - "Yours to keep"

He aqui el primer trabajo en solitario del guitarrista californiano de The Strokes. Trata de mantener un poco el sonido independiente, pero le imprime su propio sello, definido por el mismo como "indie pop"; aunque personalmente a mi me suena mas rockero.
